20%
Of the Global Population Suffers from Hearing Loss
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 1.5 billion people worldwide experience some degree of hearing loss. This represents approximately 20% of the global population. Hearing loss is a prevalent issue, and it is estimated that up to 50% of hearing loss can be prevented through public health measures. Around 430 million people currently have hearing loss that is considered disabling (greater than 35 decibels in the better-hearing ear), and they require rehabilitation services. This number is projected to increase to over 700 million by 2050.
